Last updated: November 1, 2026
Our Privacy Policy governs the privacy terms of our Website, located at watermark.ws. Any capitalized terms not defined in our Privacy Policy, have the meaning as specified in our Terms of Use accessible at https://staging.watermark.ws/terms
Your Privacy
Watermark.ws follows all legal requirements to protect your privacy. Our Privacy Policy is a legal statement that explains how we may collect information from you, how we may share your information, and how you can limit our sharing of your information. You will see terms in our Privacy Policy that are capitalized. These terms have meanings as described in the Definitions section below.
Definitions
"Non Personal Information" is information that is not personally identifiable to you and that we automatically collect when you access our Website with a web browser. It may also include publicly available information that is shared between you and others.
"Personally Identifiable Information" is non-public information that is personally identifiable to you and obtained in order for us to provide you within our Website. Personally Identifiable Information may include information such as your name, email address, and other related information that you provide to us or that we obtain about you.
What Information Do We Collect?
Our main role in gathering individual data from you is to give you a protected, smooth, productive, and rapid experience. This allows us to provide services and features that most likely meet your needs, and to alter our administration to make your experience more secure and more straightforward. We only collect personal information about you that we consider necessary for achieving this particular purpose.
As a visitor, you are not required to provide us with any personally identifiable information.
As a registered user, we collect the email address you sign up with and, if you create a password, a securely hashed version of it. Any other details in your profile settings are optional.
We do not collect or save your credit card information when you use your credit card to subscribe to our Application - when you do so, the payment processors that we use handle all credit card information. However, if you do so we do obtain limited information about your payment card from our payment processors, such as the last four digits, the country of issuance and the expiration date. Currently, our payment processors are Braintree, PayPal and Stripe. Please consult their terms of use and privacy policies for more information about how they use your personal information.
Sign in with Google
You can create an account or sign in to Watermark.ws with your Google account. When you do, Google shares the following information with us, and only after you agree on Google's consent screen:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your profile picture;
- your Google account ID and preferred language.
We use this information only to create your Watermark.ws account, sign you in, link your Google sign-in to an existing account with the same email address, and contact you about your account. We request only these basic profile permissions. We cannot see your Google password, and we do not access your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendar or any other data in your Google account.
We do not sell information received from Google, use it for advertising, or use it to develop or train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. We do not share it with anyone except the service providers that host our website and help us run it (described under "How We Share Your Information" below), or where the law requires it.
Watermark.ws's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We keep this information for as long as your account exists. You can remove Watermark.ws's access at any time from your Google account permissions. To delete the information itself, along with your account, contact us.
Files You Upload
Watermark.ws is an online tool for adding watermarks to your photos, videos, PDFs and Word documents. To do that, we store the files you upload, the watermarks, logos and fonts you create or upload, and the watermarked files we produce for you.
We use your files only to provide the editing you ask for and to let you download or export the results. Your files are private to your account: we do not publish them, sell them, use them for advertising, or use them to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Our staff look at a file only when you ask us for help with it, or when the law requires it.
Your files are stored and processed on secure cloud servers operated by Amazon Web Services. When you import a file from a cloud service or social media platform, the file is transferred through our upload provider, Uploadcare.
You can delete your files at any time, and we then remove them permanently from our storage within a few days. Files uploaded without an account are deleted automatically when that guest session expires. Files in your account are deleted when your account is deleted.
Help Chat and Support
When you use our help chat, we keep the questions you ask, the page you asked from and whether you said the answer helped, so we can improve our answers. When you write to us, through the chat or by email, we keep your messages, your email address and the files you attach, so we can reply and follow up.
To answer people in their own language, we use Anthropic's Claude, an AI service. When our help chat cannot find an answer to a question, or the question is not in English, we send it to Anthropic to understand it and to translate our answer. Our support staff may also use it to translate your messages and our replies. Email addresses and long numbers, such as card numbers, are removed before anything is sent. Anthropic processes this text on our behalf, only to give us the translation, and does not use it to train its models. Our answers come from our own help articles; Claude translates them, it does not write them.
Computer Information Collected
When you use our Website, we automatically collect certain computer information by the interaction of your mobile phone or web browser with our Website. Such information is typically considered Non Personal Information. We also collect the following:
Cookies
Our Website uses "Cookies" to identify the areas of our Website that you have visited. A Cookie is a small piece of data stored on your computer or mobile device by your web browser. We use Cookies to personalize the Content that you see on our Website. Most web browsers can be set to disable the use of Cookies. However, if you disable Cookies, you may not be able to access functionality on our website correctly or at all. We never place personally identifiable information in Cookies.
Session Recordings
When you use our app, we may record how you use it: the pages you open, where you click or tap, how you scroll, and the errors you run into. We use these recordings to find the places where our Services are hard to use and to fix them, and we may use AI tools, such as Anthropic's Claude, to summarize them. A recording shows the page as it looked, which can include the names of files you uploaded and what you type in the editor, such as the text of a text watermark. It does not include your passwords, your email address, your phone number, your payment details, your API keys or the contents of your files. We do not record account, billing or password pages, and we do not record visitors from the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Recordings are stored with our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, are not sold or used for advertising, and are deleted after 30 days.
Home Page Visits
When you open our home page, we record which of its links and buttons you use, how long the page stays open and how far you scroll, so we can see whether visitors find what they came for. Each record also notes your country, your type of device and the website you came from, but not your IP address. If you go on to start an edit, sign in or create an account, we link the record to that account. These records are not sold or used for advertising, and are deleted after 90 days.
When you reach our Website through one of our ads on Google, Microsoft Bing, Facebook or Instagram, the link carries the ad's campaign, ad group and keyword, and a click identifier the ad network adds (gclid, gbraid or wbraid for Google, msclkid for Microsoft, fbclid for Meta). We keep these with your visit, your account and your subscription to learn which ads bring subscribers. Where you allowed tracking, we tell the network that showed the ad when its click led to a subscription.
Third Party Tracking Tools
We also use third party tracking tools to measure and improve the performance and features of our Website and to advertise it. Some of these tools receive personal information: Google Analytics receives your Account ID and details about how you use our Services, and the Meta tools described below receive the information listed there. However, you understand that such tools are created and managed by parties outside our control. As such, we are not responsible for what information is actually captured by such third parties or how such third parties use and protect that information.
We use Remarketing with Google Analytics to advertise on third party sites to you after you visited our Site. We and our third party vendors, like Google, use first party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to inform, optimize and serve ads based on your past visits to our Site.
You can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize the Google Display Network ads by visiting the Google Ads Settings page. Google also recommends installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for your browser. Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on provides visitors with the ability to prevent their data from being collected and used by Google Analytics.
Meta Pixel and Conversions API
We use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., to measure our advertising and to show ads on Facebook, Instagram and other Meta services to people who have visited our Website or used our Services. The Meta Pixel uses cookies (such as the _fbp and _fbc cookies) to record the pages you visit and actions you take on our Website, for example creating an Account, viewing our upgrade options, starting checkout and subscribing. When you create an Account or subscribe, our servers also send Meta a record of that action together with your IP address, browser user agent and a hashed (irreversibly scrambled) form of your email address, name, phone number and Account ID, so that Meta can match the action to your Meta account. We may also share a hashed list of customer email addresses with Meta so that we do not show ads to existing subscribers. Meta processes this information under its own Privacy Policy.
You can control the ads you see on Meta services in your Facebook Ad Preferences, and disconnect information that businesses share with Meta about your activity in the "Your activity off Meta technologies" section of the Meta Accounts Center. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at YourAdChoices or, in Europe, Your Online Choices, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Automatic Information
We automatically receive information from your web browser or mobile device. This information includes the name of the website from which you entered our Website, if any, as well as the name of the website to which you're headed when you leave our website. This information also includes the IP address of your computer/proxy server that you use to access the Internet, your Internet Website provider name, web browser type, type of mobile device, and computer operating system. We use all of this information to analyze trends among our Users to help improve our Website.
How We Retain Your Personal Information
We retain personal information regarding you or your use of the Services for as long as your Account is active or for as long as needed to provide you or our Users with the Services. We also retain personal information for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, for example, to comply with our legal obligations, to protect us in the event of disputes and to enforce our agreements and to protect our and others’ interests.
The precise periods for which we keep your personal information vary depending on the nature of the information and why we need it. Factors we consider in determining these periods include the minimum required retention period prescribed by law or recommended as best practice, the period during which a claim can be made with respect to an agreement or other matter, whether the personal information has been aggregated or pseudonymized, and other relevant criteria. For example, the period we keep your email address is connected to how long your Account is active, while the period for which we keep a support message is based on how long has passed since the last submission in the thread.
As Users may come back to us after an Account becomes inactive, we don’t immediately delete your personal information when a trial period expires or you cancel all paid Services. Instead, we keep your personal information for a reasonable period of time, so it will be there for you if you come back.
You may delete your Account by contacting us (or emailing support@watermark.ws) and we will delete the personal information it holds about you (unless we need to retain it for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy).
Please note that in the course of providing the Services, we collect and maintain aggregated, anonymized or de-personalized information which we may retain indefinitely.
Your personal information is also used for the following purposes:
- to provide, operate and secure your account and the Services;
- to process your files as you request;
- to process payments for paid plans;
- to send you emails about your account, files and subscription;
- to answer your support requests;
- to detect and prevent fraud and abuse;
- to send you marketing emails, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf to run the Services: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage and file processing), Uploadcare (file imports), Stripe, Braintree and PayPal (payments), Postmark (email and support requests), Sentry (error reporting) and Anthropic (translating help chat questions and support messages, and summarizing session recordings). They may use your information only to provide their services to us. We also share information with our advertising partners, Google and Meta, as described under "Computer Information Collected" above; they use it to measure our advertising and show you our ads, and they may also use it under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and of Watermark.ws.
Your Rights, Your Choice.
Where applicable law requires (and subject to any relevant exceptions under law), you may have the right to access, update, change or delete personal information.
You can also elect not to receive marketing communications by changing your preferences in your Account or by following the unsubscribe instruction in such communications.
Please note that, for technical reasons, there is likely to be a delay in deleting your personal Information from our systems when you ask us to delete it. We also will retain personal Information in order to comply with the law, protect our and others’ rights, resolve disputes or enforce our legal terms or policies, to the extent permitted under applicable law.
Additionally, if we rely on consent for the processing of your personal information, you have the right to withdraw it at any time and free of charge. When you do so, this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before your consent withdrawal.
Protecting Your Child's Privacy
Our Website is not designed for use by anyone under the age of 13 ("Child"), though we realize we may have a Child attempt to make purchases through our Website. We do not verify the age of our Users nor do we have any liability for verifying a User's age. If you are a Child, please seek the permission of a parent or guardian before using our Website. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your Child is using our Website, please contact us to remove your Child's account; we reserve the right to ask you for verification of your relationship to the Child before we honor such a request. If we discover that a Child has created an account on our Website, we will immediately delete the account as soon as we discover it, we will not use the information for any purpose, and we will not disclose the information to third parties. However, as parent of such a Child, you understand that you are legally liable for any transactions created by the Child.
Our Email Policy
Our affiliates and we fully comply with national laws regarding SPAM. You can always opt out of receipt of further email correspondence from us and/or our affiliates. We agree that we will not sell, rent, or trade your email address to any unaffiliated third-party without your permission.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. You should review this Privacy Policy frequently. If we make material changes to this policy, we may notify you on our Website, by a blog post, by email, or by any method we determine. The method we chose is at our sole discretion. We will also change the "Last Updated" date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy. Any changes we make to our Privacy Policy are effective as of this Last Updated date and replace any prior Privacy Policies.
